Freak the Mighty Chapter 15, written by Rodman Philbrick depicts the fear of "Killer Kane", Grim's nightmare has come true and without a warning the night of Christmas Eve.
On this occasion it is Christmas Eve and the Fair Gwen, Kevin with Max's family is gathered for a dinner. With the Fair Gwen and Kevin dressed in a suit and a slim dress that reaches the floor for the Fair Gwen.
As they begin to open their 1 present, Grim, starts to open his present, who starts off the group. As they all had opened their present, Max is the last one to have not have teared apart the wrapping paper to see whats inside, his gift is waiting and Kevin is eager for Max to open the gift.
Kevin can barely hold his mouth shut as Kevin starts to give instructions to Max, Max notices that the this is not a normal present not in the shape of a box as the usual . . . it's a pyramid. As Max slowly rips off the wrapped paper Max observes the homemade pyramid and as he opens the pyramid it is a surprise to see a dictionary, filled with Kevin's favorite words.
The night has ended, and Max has trouble sleeping, but has fallen on a pillow in a daze, later awakened by a cold breeze in the "Down Under" which is a surprise towards Max as it is always warm, Max starts to get up to close a window when he sees a dark shadow "as dark as the night" and a strong hand clamps over his mouth leaving Max helpless, as his heart stops beating as if seeing what was going to happen next.
I enjoyed reading this chapter because I was interested in the begining by the name of the chapter as I immediatly predicted that "Killer Kane" would soon appear and I asked myself who goes down chimneys? Santa was my answer who granted me with a clue that it is Christmas Eve. I quickly began to read to see if my hypothesis was correct, in the beginning I was sure of my prediction, but as I read on I was doughting my prediction but then I had read "a cold breeze" and I knew what would happen next.
I will not write a prediction because I have already read the whole book, so it would be ridiculous to simply write a prediction. I hope you respect my choice.
